My heart is broken...

I lost my best friend of over 15 years yesterday.  She was taken from this Earth far too early.  Knowing that she is resting is Jesus loving care doesn't begin to address the emptiness and hurt that I feel today.

MLive News Report about our accident

Article about our daughter

Brown Floral reaction

Our daughter, Miranda Evangelene Cole, was "delivered" at 2:17PM, about 45 minutes after the crash.  She did not have a heart beat.  She was not breathing.  The doctors were able to start her heart and get her on ventalation.  She was then rushed to Mott's Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI.

I fear that our time with Miranda may be short.  I know that hundreds, if not thousands of people are praying for her, and for a miracle, today.  It will take a miracle...

Even with the positives that the doctors keep reporting, the one thing that everything hinges on is brain activity, which Miranda is showing little to none of as we near the 24 hour mark.  The neurologists haven't been in yet, but the pediatric doctors are worried that the neurologists finding won't be any different than their own.

If Miranda doesn't show any improvement by 7:30PM Tuesday evening, it's likely that we'll have to say goodbye to her, too.

I truly appreciate the love that's been expressed to my and Sara's family during this trajedy.  We have felt the touch of angels and yet still find ourselves struggling with the reality of what has happened and what may be yet to come.

My heart is broken, please pray for Miranda.  Please pray for a miracle.  She's a beautiful little girl, and she's fighting, but she needs more help than what the doctors can give her.

Sincerely,
Chad Cole

  3. There are miracles that do happen.. If Miranda is lost to this earth, she will be with her Mother and Jesus. If a miracle lets her stay on earth, she will have a speacial mission to accomplish. Rest in that prayer, that GOD will provide the right answer. It may not be the answer you want, but it will be the right one. Loss is soooo hard. I know. You survived Chad, there is more for you to do on this earth. Listen and you will hear what that is.

  22. Chad, I read about the tragic turn of events in your life through a FB posting from a lady you went to school with-Janelle. I have reposted in my FB.

We in South Florida a pray God's perfect peace to guard your heart in mind. In my devotional last night, Beth's Moore Praying God's Work, I was reading from the chapter Overcoming Despair Resulting from Loss with your family in mind. There are alot of great prayers to meditate upon and encouraging storie.

    Here is one prayer:
I love you, Lord, for you heard my voice; You heard my cry for mercy. Because You turned your ear to me, I will call on You as long as I live. The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came upon me; I was overcome by trouble and sorrow. Then I called on the Name of the Lord; O Lord save me! Lord because You are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me PS 63:7-8 Help me trust in you at all times; help me pur out my heart to you God for You are my refuge ps 62:8
Chad put your hope in Christ, cling to your Rock and He will not let the waters overtake you or the fire burn you.

My spirit will be praying for your family and I pray that your heaviness will be transferred to those who will uphold you and prayer and you may walk in a peace that will testify of Gods mercy to you.

Lord I pray in Jesus name that you would bring life to Miranda's brain and bring it in the fullness of life without any impairments .....in the name of Jesus....Live Miranda live.... Jeanne in South Florida

Let God be glorified through this miraculous Miranda. Hang tight to Jesus, brother. And we will continue to pray for you and your spirits to be in line with God's plan and His word. And come what may, God never changes. His love will continue to be bigger than anything we will go through in this life. Remember He is FOR YOU. And there is NOTHING the enemy can do to destroy what really counts. I pray you will find strength to endure your days, knowing that Sara is surely with Jesus.

I too do not know you or sara personally but went to hs with Ryan.
I just wanted to offer that we are praying for a miracle and to encourage you to believe that miracles do happen. I have one...7 yrs ago,at his birth, my son was flown to Mott's with a 2% chance of survival, and our prayers were answered. I believe it was the power of prayer that kept him on this Earth. Mott's is wonderful, they will care for both of you. There is a room right across from the NICU for family of the most critical cases. If you are not in it already, ask for it. Our hearts go out to you, we will pray continuously. Warmly,

Our family is praying for sweet Miranda and although God has ushered your wife into His presence what may seem premature to us, He DOES have a plan that we don't always understand. Praying for you as you are facing probably the MOST difficult thing a person can face, please keep us updated as you can. Sara is resting at the feet of Jesus...

I'm so sorry for you and yours. I found about this from Andy Owens FB. While I don't know you, my heart still breaks. Please know you are being lifted to the throne of grace by myself and obviously many others. So thankful that God gives us His Holy Spirit to intercede on our behalf during times such as this, when we're at a loss for how to pray.

  112. Dear Chad,
You don't know us but a friend of your wife's, is a friend of my daughter and she just called me about you, Sara and Miranda and gave me your link. Please know that we are all praying here for everyone, and for little Miranda. We are praying for a miracle and that through this miracle that God may receive all the glory. We pray that you and your families will gain strength through our Lord Jesus to get through these days and that we have the hope of seeing our loved ones again. That it is never goodbye just see you later. And even though we have never met I will tell you the tears are flowing as I write this. Talk and sing to that precious baby and touch her ever so gently. May His peace and love surround all of you at this time and may they strengthen you for all you need to face.

  138. Chad, don't lose faith. The hole in your heart is big now but with each breath and every day that passes, it will grow smaller and smaller and will start to heal itself. Don't despair. Rely on those around you and don't be afraid to ask for help.

  139. Chad, I don't know you... I am really just a kid from Michigan... or rather, I once was. I just happened to come across this news on a mutual friend's Facebook page.

If it helps, know that a complete stranger offers most sincere condolences, and deepest prayer for you. Among those of us on this earth, clearly you deserve blessings from high up.

Miranda IS a special girl, a precious angel, and a ray of light who's touch is profound. Whether she stays here to spend more time with us or not, her name and your life's story stretch across the inescapable reaches of the internet.

If you manage to make it this far down your page, and read my words, I pray that you take some solace from knowing that the world does indeed care. I cannot express, truly, the deep sadness with this news strikes, my polished words fail to capture the emotion, the moment, the feeling within this event.

I struggle to find words of inspiration, some message of hope without sounding trite or cliche, some way to offer relief from the shock which you must wholeheartedly feel.

Know then, that if nothing else, at this moment, a stranger out there willingly shares your pain. I pray for you brother, from my own corner of the world.

Its going to be a long process but rest assured your beautiful baby girl and wife are safe now in the arms of Jesus and you will one day be united. Your family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Your sweet little angel brought together so many people in prayer that is a miracle itself. God Bless you.

  142. Chad, I attended the Milan Free Methodist Church and have lots of friends who went to Spring Arbor, including Tim Whitaker. I am also an RN at UofM Hospital, although I no longer work in Mott and am in the Cardiovascular Center now. As another common thread, I went to school with Stephanie Mortimer, who I think you know from work....she's a Speech Pathologist in the Jackson schools somewhere. I saw this post on their walls and my heart just goes out to you. I can't imagine what you are going through right now, even though in my line of work I have seen my share of tragedy. Please just know that there is one more person praying for you and little Miranda. I know you don't know me, but if there is anything I can do to help, I would be glad to.

  148. All I can say is my heart aches for you. I pray that you will continue to gain strength from the Lord and knowing that so many people that you will never have the opportunity to meet that are praying for you. I know that words cannot possibly take away from the grief you have to be feeling, but I am terribly sorry for your loss. Psalm 27:4-5
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.

  150. Dear Chad & Family - I too am just a stranger who saw your story via a friend's FB page. My heart is broken for you & God has been teaching me so much through the past week as I've followed your story, with tears & many prayers. I & many others here in WY have been & continue to lift you up in prayer. Praying for God to deliver His promises to you...the peace that passes all understanding, a yoke that is easy & a burden that is light. There are no words I could ever say to heal your hurt but as the body of Christ, we are called to encourage one another & so I wanted to remind you of what God promises & pray that He will draw you near to Him for comfort, peace & strength that He alone can give. Remember that He knows all, sees all & has everything in His more-than-capable, faithful hands. You will not be forgotten in prayer in the coming days, weeks, months & years as you face life as you have not known it before. Tap into God's grace, which is sufficient to carry you through the darkest valleys. I will continue to pray without ceasing...

  151. Dear Chad,

My heart breaks for you as I read your posts. Even as I sit and type this to you, tears are streaming down my face. Although I don't know you, your precious Sara, or Miranda, but reading through your posts I feel like I do. I was praying right along with all these others for a miracle for your precious little girl. But I know that God had a bigger plan for her and for you! He always has a reason for the things he makes us go through, even if we don't know what that reason is! You keep clinging to that Rock, and ask God to grant you the comfort that you need during this time. You take all the time you need to heal and be able to function again. My prayers have now turned to ones that the Lord will wrap you in his peace and comfort you and your family and Sara's family. I don't think that anyone will blame you for not posting here for a while...you need to take some time for you! I pray with everyone else that during the coming days, weeks, months and years that the Lord will guide you and show you clearly the plan that he has for you. Pleased know that You, Sara and your precioius baby will always be in my heart! Your strength and ability to cling to the Lord through this has touched my heart and life and for that I thank you! Keep clining to that Rock!

I had a chance to read through your blog entries and what broke me was how tender you are towards your wife and your child, while she was still unborn.

I was weeping over you last night. Please know that my husband, myself and our children are broken for you and praying that our sweet Savior will minister to your wounds. Praying that He can be with you and as you try to figure how to breathe, how to live. I'm soo very thankful that you know Jesus. He IS the only hope.
You've been on our hearts these last couple of days and wanted you to know that we are interceding on your behalf. If anyone can understand all of your feelings, emotions etc it's God the Father who had to watch His Son suffer for us. Run to Him. He will carry you.
